The Connecticut Online Business Club

Late last year, I started a Meetup group: The Connecticut Online Business Club. To (as the Meetup page puts it):

Share practical knowledge and experience about what works in building a legitimate, long-term, value-adding online business.

I’ve been involved in online business since 1999 and run several websites, some of which (gasp!) actually make money. There are a few groups in the area that focus on graphic design and web technology but I wanted to pull together a group that was focused more on the business side of things. There is so much information out there on creating and running an online business. It is difficult though to separate the good from the bad, fact from theory. Experience is the great arbiter of such things. Hence the focus on getting together people with at least some experience.

This club is for people:

  • Working towards building a real, online businesses.
  • Willing to take a long-term approach.
  • That have been trying things and have some experience in what works vs. what doesn’t work.
  • That want to build an online businesses that adds some kind of value to the parties involved.

This club is not for people:

  • Looking for Get Rich Quick (GRQ) schemes.
  • Looking to build something that offers no value to the parties involved.
  • Looking to build something “sketchy”.
  • Involved in Multi-Level Marketing (MLM).

Kind of vague but if this seems like something you’re interested in, take a look at the Meetup page which has a lot more information. We get together once a month and we’re open to new members. We’ve had a few Meetups so far and have a really good core group of four people. We learn something new each time we meet and I think we’ve all been able to help each other improve our businesses as a result.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
